Turmeric Tea

If you don’t incorporate turmeric into your diet already, now is the time! It has so many amazing, healing properties- it’s an antioxidant, reduces inflammation, keeps your brain sharp, helps reduce pain, protects your liver and the list goes on and on. I love this tea year round, but when fall is on the horizon, I especially start to crave this nutritious, soothing beverage. Side note- turmeric stains really bad so be careful to not get it on anything!

Quick tip: Don’t let the black pepper scare you, it adds a warming sensation and helps your body absorb the turmeric!

Turmeric Tea
Cook Time: 5 minutes | Prep Time: 5 minutes | Serves: 1-4

Ingredients:

⅓ cup honey
2 tablespoons turmeric powder
Freshly squeezed lemon, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Coconut milk (or milk of choice), to taste

Directions:

1.) In a small bowl, carefully stir the turmeric into the honey until it becomes a paste. This makes enough for a few cups, just store the extra in an airtight container for later use.

2.) Bring some water to a boil and place a rounded teaspoon of the turmeric paste in a mug. Pour the hot water over the top and stir well to dissolve the paste. Add a squeeze of lemon juice, freshly ground pepper, and a splash of coconut milk to taste, stir and enjoy! As you drink, be sure to stir or swirl the mug around to prevent the spices from settling.
